Plumbing – Electrical Business

 1.4M in Revenue 2021

Profit ($135,000)

Like most owners in the Plumbing and Electrical industry, the challenge of finding new customers for growth, plus “good staff” to service those customers efficiently to an end resultof revenue growth that is converted to profits and cash for the owners is an uphill battle for most businesses.

This well-established business had been to numerous courses and seminars where the “one size fits all” answer was to have a good website and a good job management system and you will be successful. Unfortunately, this business was doing had those two things but could not grow and was now losing money month to month.

The challenge:

  • Revenue would grow, but the expenses would outgrow the revenue each month. When revenue dropped the loss was greater, the owners wanted help.
  • After an initial 3-day dive into the business we found the following common areas of concern where the business was lacking:
    • The business needed to set specific performance expectations for all employees, everyone needed to have daily, weekly and monthly goals.
    • The business needed goals, revenue and profitability goals.
    • We right sized the business to allow the business to be profitable.
    • We established training schedules, so the technicians “practiced” and were coached on how to improve their game.
    • We created a specific marketing plan to allow the business to grow.

Business – Plumbing

1.2M in Revenue (70/30 Strata / Domestic)

Profit ($72,000)

This business owner had determined that the future of his business would come from being in the domestic market. Turning to digital marketing as the way to build this business was becoming a monthly battle as AdWords costs were climbing. The cost per lead became more expensive, there were no tracking mechanisms to see the ROI so in essence AdWords was actually hampering the speed of future growth.

The challenge:

  • Strata demand was declining, and it was a race to the bottom on hourly rates.
  • Building a domestic demand plumbing customer base to support the growth desires of the business owner, at a pace that would replace Strata revenue immediately.
  • Building a team of trained technicians to run domestic jobs in a manner that would create long term relationships.
  • Creating a structure to support the field making the switch to domestic successfully.
  • Focus the business in the right areas to grow domestically.
  • Create a marketing plan that allowed for domestic sales to grow.
